The Moores Move To Missouri

Moving. I happen to hate it.  I have moved 5 times in the past 3 years, and have gained a strong appreciation for military families and a strong dislike for the color of cardboard boxes.  On Sunday, June 26, my family and I drove 942 miles from Jacksonville, FL to our new home in Wildwood, MO.  We will be living here for at least the next 3 years, and for me just one, since I head off to college in a year.  This first post is a little bit of background behind our move to Missouri and also some of what the blog will be about.  I was born in St. Louis, Missouri, moved to Ohio for 3 years, moved back to St. Louis for 5 years, moved to Jacksonville for 8 1/2 years, and moved back to Missouri 4 days ago, so we're familiar with the area.  We moved here because of my dad's job.  He started working at St. John's Mercy Hospital in Washington, MO May 2nd and has been living in our rental house for 2 months while my mom, brother, and I stayed behind in Jacksonville. Although I don't want to be living here, and we did discuss the possibility of me staying with a host family to finish out senior year, we all decided as a family that the most important thing was to stay together as a family for our final year that I was living at home.  So 6 days ago, the movers came to pack up the house, dad arrived to help us with the drive, and then 2 days later we began our journey.

I am part of a family of 4, not including the 3 dogs that are my mom's other babies.  There's Buckeye, the red golden who's the older, alpha male of the group; Jackson, the berenese mountain dog who's the friendly giant and innocent bear; and Mo, who's the sweet golden who I still think of as a puppy.  Buckeye and Jackson are rescue dogs.  They're all named for the places we've lived- Buckeye for Ohio, Jackson for Jacksonville, FL, and Mo for Missouri (MO).  They're part of our family too. :)

Other than that, there's nothing amazingly interesting to write about for now, but stay tuned for posts about our first few days here in the Show-Me State!
